7 Types of Courage
I let go of the immense weight I’d been carrying around.
I was on a merry go round with this decision, for way too long. Every conversation, I was having with my inner circle of friends, revolved around this topic; my career unhappiness. I was so sure, I would wake up one day and they would all have disappeared. Their phone numbers out of service! 😂
Well, that super awesome story I was telling myself, was so far from the truth. What did happen was a deeper bond of friendship because I was open, honest and vulnerable. I didn’t hide the truth; I was falling a part inside.
When I think of how to describe my career move, one word captures it for me: COURAGE.
“Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.” ~ brenebrown
Our courage shows up in many different ways in our daily lives and when we face adversity.
Here are 6 types of courage, and perhaps a different perspective, the next time you find yourself digging deep to move through a challenge:
- Physical courage: Even though you may be feeling the fear about something, you choose to keep going. Drawing upon your resilience, bravery and awareness.
- Social courage: Showing up, unapologetically YOU!!
- Ethical (Moral) courage: Living in alignment with your values. Doing the right thing, even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular with others.
- Emotional courage: Feeling all your emotions, unapologetically, and without guilt, shame and attachment.
- Intellectual courage: Your thirst for knowledge and growth. Your willingness to learn, unlearn and relearn with an open, adaptable and flexible mind.
- Spiritual courage: Living with purpose and meaning.
