Things I Wish My Younger Self Knew

I often reflect in moments when making decisions or choices and wonder what I would have done differently, having the life experiences I’ve had. How would the knowledge I have today have impacted the pathway I’ve traveled? Here are a few things, I wish my younger self knew…

  • comparing myself to others steals my joy

  • trying to be perfect hides my authenticity

  • losing myself for a relationship isn't worth it

  • choosing who I become is freedom from expectations

  • vulnerability is having courage to show up and be seen; no matter what the outcome

  • everything is impermanent

  • putting myself first means that everyone else gets the best version of ME

  • every relationship requires consistent effort; communication is key

  • armouring up is not a form of protection

  • career achievements will not define me

  • power over my storytelling is in my control

  • boundaries are a way of loving me and you simultaneously; setting them is easy, holding them is the challenge

  • living in the present moment & practising mindfulness reduces/eliminates anxiety

  • self criticism or judgement does not serve a purpose

  • saying 'NO' or changing my mind IS allowed

  • asking for help is not a sign of weakness
